what the future holds is our everlast our dedication and sincerity, our eternal flame today, tomorrow, forever! we're here to stay.

i think things will stop shaking
when it hits the ground
in the mean time, the floating
oh the floating
will shake the food to vomit
and stain your shirt.
lean forward.
way forward.
right off over the edge
and smile...
even if you've got a little
in the corner there...
it wont matter much unless you kiss someone
or lick it.
it'll just crust up and fall off
give it 15 minutes...
we might hit the ground by then.
might. might.

hey along those same lines,

we hit the white clouds and
thick pile grasses and trees
with our backs straight out
and fell right through to
comfort of blank blank space
and it was everything and
all it needed to be at every second.
it was a complete experience.

and along those lines,

i will erect a fucking granite stone in your honor.
i will carry it to its final and permanent location
- 3 miles into the woods - on my back.
i will dig a hole and set it in the earth on a small hill amidst
rock maples so in the fall it will stand true in the reflected
oranges, reds and yellows of fallen fall leaves.
i will build a 4 foot by 4 foot cedar post fence with barbed wire
around the stone to let people close enough to read
but it will be just a hair too small to bother to want to get inside.

i will erect a fucking stone in your honor
while we are still alive to throw a finger in the face of those
who wait until death to honor greatness 'just in case
the person becomes an asshole in their old age'
it will be shaped like a grave stone and presented similarly because
there is a certain amount of metaphorical death implied even though its
surrounded by the exact meaning of life. i will carve
a poem into this stone with a hammer and chisel that reflects this implication.
it will be personal, full of sadness, shameless love and regretted separation.

i will erect a fucking stone in your honor
and all who stumble across it in the woods will look, read and wonder
at all the details including why a corner of it is missing. you
will be the only one who knows that the corner is the sole existing map
to the monuments location because i will have presented this stone
to you in a hand carved stained oak box with your initials
scribed in a brass plate on top. i'd like to think of it as a treasure
map to a display of the-best-i-could-ever-do-for-you that others will find and use-
generations in your family line away - or maybe other families away - to find our perfect love of friendship living forever in an amazing dark romantic mystery that's sadly beaten out of the youth of today.

i will erect a fucking stone in your honor
that others, not knowing the story, will assign great stories to. the speculation will be floating and perfect. it will be used as a land mark when describing the remote location, and in the future it may become a point on a trail or maybe the destination
on a trail where hikers stop to read and wonder. they will, no doubt think, 'people don't do that for people any more.
why don't people do that for people any more?'
maybe someone else will do this for someone else.
and their stone will be bigger and better than the stone in your honor.
at that point we can be proud that someone beat us.
we can be proud that someone tried like hell for another living person to say what they needed to say in a permanent, original, public, personal way.
we can be proud we inspired one person to do something every person should do every day of their lives.

i will erect a fucking stone in your honor
and it will never fall.
it will never fail.

i will erect a fucking stone in your honor.
